SUMMARY:"The Path of Man between Science and Technology" : 40 Years Later The Return to the Moon and the Emergence of Artificial Intelligence
DESCRIPTION:At the Giorgio Amendola Foundation\, Via Tollegno 52 – 10154 Turin (TO) \n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 16\, 2024 from 10:00 to 20:00 \n\n\n\nIn 1984\, on the first issue of the “Rinnovamento” magazine published by the emerging Amendola Foundation\, Gianni Jarre\, a professor of aerospace engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin\, in an article titled “The Path of Man between Science and Technology” traced the history of the interaction between science and technology\, highlighting key moments in their development. Starting from the inventions of Stephenson and Faraday in the nineteenth century\, science and technology have evolved in parallel; an example is the scientific understanding of electromagnetism which led to innovations such as the dynamo and the telephone. Jarre then highlighted the role of empirical technique in the success of\, for example\, the Wright brothers\, who in 1903 built the first airplane\, defying the predictions of official science and contributing to the development of aeronautics. The growing interconnection between technology\, science\, and civilization in the twentieth century generated rapid progress in sectors such as missile technology and nuclear engineering. Jarre concluded the article by emphasizing the crucial need to manage the complex relationship between different emerging attitudes in society (“technophilia” vs “technophobia”) to guide society towards a more responsible future civilization. \n\n\n\nToday\, 40 years later\, this need is still present and relevant in emerging technological and scientific challenges\, examples of which are the renewed human exploration activities of space and the Moon by all national space agencies\, and in the field of computing\, the emergence of a new form of artificial intelligence on Earth and in space. Managing these relationships is at the core of the motivations of the Moon Village Association (moonvillageassociation.org)\, an international NGO dedicated to the sustainable development of lunar exploration\, and the Giorgio Amendola Foundation\, which has always been committed to issues of the social impact of technologies and emerging scientific challenges. And these are the themes on which we would like to reflect together on this day. \n\n\n\nDuring the all-day (10:00 to 20:00) \, there will be representatives from the Moon Village Association\, PoliTo\, PoliMi\, the ITS Aerospace Academy Piedmont\, and ITC Linderberg\, also will be possible to visit the exhibitions: \n\n\n\n“Innovative Technologies for Lunar Exploration”: \n\n\n\n“CubeSat Self-propelled” (Newroboticarm) \n\n\n\n“Intelligent” Fabrics for Space Exploration (Fiscatech & BeD) \n\n\n\n“So Far\, So Close”: Cosmic Ray Measurements in Space with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (ams02.space) and ground control of space missions”; \n\n\n\n“Radiation and Safety on the Moon: Active Shielding for Radiation Protection: How fundamental research addresses the problem of shielding from cosmic rays in lunar exploration. \n\n\n\nFrom 15:00 to 18:30 there will be the following speeches \n\n\n\n\n15:00-15:10 “Introduction”\, Prospero Cerabona – President of the Amendola Foundation\n\n\n\n15:10-15:25 “Istitutional geetings“\, Andrea Tronzano – Councilor for the development of productive activities and SMEs and for the Budget – Regione Piemonte\n\n\n\n15:25-15:40 “The Moon Village Association”: Giuseppe Reibaldi – President of the Moon Village Association\n\n\n\n15:40-16:10 “Robotic Technologies for Lunar Applications and AI”: Giovanni Giordano – CEO Newroboticarm\, Giovanni Spada- Newroboticarm\, Sergio Lodezzano – Newroboticarm\n\n\n\n16:10-16:40 “Wearable Technologies for Health Monitoring: space missions and terrestrial applications”\, Giovanni Giordano – CEO Newroboticarm\, Sergio Lodezzano- Newroboticarm\, Cristiano Paron – Fiscatech\, Francesco Bonaccorso- BeD\n\n\n\n16:40-17:10 “How astronauts see” Carlo Aleci – Prof. of Psychophysics of Vision at the University of Turin 17:10-17:40 Lecture from Voyager Space\n\n\n\n17:40-18:00 Round table on the topics addressed: Prof. P. Maggiore\, Prof. S. Pastorelli\, and Dr. M. Mancini from PoliTO will intervene\n\n\n\n18:00-18:30 Discussion and Conclusion\n\n\n\n\nFor information write to\n\n\n\ngiovanni.giordano@newroboticarm.com \n\n\n\nalessandro.bartoloni@moonvillageassociation.org

SUMMARY:MVA Participation on RUDN University Space Week
DESCRIPTION:MVA President\, Dr. Giuseppe Reibaldi\, will be participating in the RUDN University Space Week with the presentation “Moon Village Association contribution to sustainable lunar activities”\, on October 5.\n\n\n\n\nEvent Program\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRUDN University Space Week \n\n\n\nOctober 4-7\, 2021\, the University will host RUDN University Space Week for the first time. A series of panel discussions with prominent representatives of the space science will be organized within 4 days. \n\n\n\nIn 2021\, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, there was a boom in space activities: the landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars\, the launch of the first module of the Tiangong space station\, a series of suborbital human flights into space\, which gave a new round to the era of space tourism. These events affect not only the development of humanity\, but the evolution of space law. \n\n\n\nOn December 6\, 1999\, the UN General Assembly proclaimed World Space Week as an annual holiday. This event is celebrated every year from October 4 to 10. The choice of the period is based on two important dates in the history of cosmonautics: the launch of the first artificial satellite of the Earth and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty of 1967. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the contribution of space science and technology to improving human living conditions. SUMMARY:Back to the Moon - For Good
DESCRIPTION:50 years ago Apollo 11 landed on the Moon and Neil Armstrong set foot on the surface of a celestial body other than Earth. We will remember the Apollo program and pay tribute to its historical events. The same time\, we look into the future and discuss new concepts and business opportunities in the emerging cislunar economy\, both in the short (next 5 years) and the long (up to 20-30 years) run.We will touch the current status of the programs of big Space Agencies – NASA\, ESA\, China\, Roscosmos\, Jaxa (Japan)\, ISRO (India)\, – as well as various private initiatives like the Google Lunar XPRIZE\, The Moon Race\, Moon Village Associaton. Besides marketing and investment opportunities the inspirational\, educational and PR aspects will be discussed as well. Well-known experts and key players of the private sector give valuable insights of what is happening right now and what are their expectations for the future of the cislunar economy. Come and join us in the Holdudvar (Moonyard) on the Margaret Island in Budapest at this unique event where we remember Apollo 11 and look forward into the next 50 years: why and how will be rewarding to participate in the creation of the cislunar economy.

SUMMARY:11th IAA Symposium on the Future of Space Exploration Moon\, Mars and Beyond: Becoming an Interplanetary Civilization
DESCRIPTION:A new three-days International Symposium on the future of Space Exploration will be organized by the International Academy of Astronautics and Politecnico di Torino. The symposium will be held in Torino\, on 17-19 June 2019. \n\n\n\nThe International Academy of Astronautics is fostering global cooperation in Human and Robotics Space Exploration since more than 5 decades. The International Space Station program is expected to be completed by 2024 and there is no global program agreed for Human Space Flight. The goals of this new Symposium are to present the final results of IAA activities related to programs beyond Low Earth Orbit\, starting from the Moon Village vision. The Moon Village is considered by many as the logic step for humans beyond LEO and a stepping stone for Mars exploration and interplanetary journeys. \n\n\n\nThe aim is to promote an exchange of ideas and experiences\, within the Space community\, discussing the activities presented and proposing new concrete global space exploration activities involving established and emerging space agencies and industries. \n\n\n\nSpecial effort will be devoted to involve young professionals and new space start-up companies related to exploration acting as a forum for fostering new initiatives. \n\n\n\nPapers related to Technology\, Science\, Programmatics\, Economics\, Ethical and Cultural aspects of exploration will be accepted.
