Adaptive Governance
The “Adaptive Governance” Working Group identifies, assesses the need for cooperation mechanisms in specific issues of Moon Village missions and activities. The mechanism proposed are aiming to build consensus on the best way forward. The issues to be assessed will be defined by the Working Group’s participants and will be related to the 2030 time horizon, as a first step.

About the Working Group
The “Adaptive Governance” Working Group (previously “named Coordination & Cooperation”) assesses the need for cooperation mechanisms in specific issues of Moon Village missions and activities. Current Activities
- Development and operationalization of The Global Expert Group on Sustainable Lunar Activities (GEGSLA).
- Benefit Sharing Project (Jan, 2022): launched by Moon Village Association as part of its mission, the Benefit Sharing Project is a neutral international platform that will host a multi-stakeholder debate on some of the socio-economic dimensions for the sustainability of lunar activities.
Why share benefits?
Establishing mechanisms for an equitable sharing of benefits is a path to advance in the use and exploration of the Moon ensuring that the interests of all humanity are not only contemplated but decisively addressed, while encouraging the development of space activities by those who already have the capabilities to do so but may lack incentives for behavior better than required.
Our objectives:
The goal of the Benefit Sharing Project is to propose concrete mechanisms for equitable sharing of benefits related to lunar activities, encompassing economic, environmental, and social concerns, through the analysis of the context in which lunar activities will evolve and assessing possibilities for two major inclusiveness factors:
-making sure that not only dominant space powers but a much larger array of emerging space powers and companies, and in particular developing economies, are part and parcel of a planetary Moon activities ecosystem.
-guaranteeing that all members of the global society have access to the benefits of those activities.

The Panel will discuss current issues related to achieving sustainable lunar activities. In particular the Global Expert Group on Sustainable Lunar Activities (GEGSLA) initiated by the Moon Village Association will be presented. GEGSLA has been created to derisk future missions and increase international cooperation by defining common level playing field for future lunar missions. GEGSLA is composed of multi stakeholders experts from government/space agency, industry, academia, civil society, international organizations and the public. Perspectives from several stakeholders will be presented during the panel together with a discussion and a Q&A session with the public.

Get Involved
Our mandate is to promote cooperation and coordination to provide an enabling environment for peaceful and sustainable future lunar activities.
Our goal is to assist the international community in developing cooperation and coordination mechanisms to build consensus on the best way forward.
For that, we host webinars with invited experts and develop joint initiatives dedicated to discussing critical issues, such as registration, interoperability and best practices. We also create sub-Working Groups to study particular topics, identify current and future challenges and propose governance and legal mechanisms to deal with them.
