Call for Moon Village Centers

Introduction

The Moon Village Centre will act as bridge between Earth and the Moon, symbolising humanity’s collective commitment to sustainable lunar exploration and utilization

The Moon Village Centre (MVC) is a permanent world class facility dedicated to implement the vision and activities of the Moon Village Association (MVA) as well as create synergies and outreach with the host priorities.

Definition of the centres will be different, depending on the interest and priorities of the host, but MVA will insure harmonization between them 

MVC act as a physical global platform for nations, industries, academia and the public by fostering cooperation, research, education and public engagement in lunar exploration and utilization.

The Centre could be located in different part of the world in order to create a network

The setting up and operation of the centre will be the responsibility of the proposer, including its financing, but MVA will act as the coordinator to assist in the definition and harmonization of the activities as well as fostering cooperations within the centres

MVA has a Global Network implemented and one of the goals of this Centre will be to act as the central hub for the national coordination and foster membership. MVC could play also an important role in the organization of the International Moon Day global events in his own country.

Example of activities to be carried out in the MVCs are, in the Education, to offer courses related to Moon Exploration and Utilization, in the Professional activities to carry out activities, in the Working Groups and Flagship activities of MVA. These are, amongst others, Industry, Economics, Architecture, Agriculture, Governance, Participation of Developing countries, Exhibitions, Events with the public, etc. For more details, see the website: www.moonvillageassociation.org

The main goal of the Centre is to carry out activities not already implemented by other organizations, but to act as support to Space Agencies, Industry, Academia, UN-COPUOS in the lunar exploration and utilization and internationalize national activities, if needed

The host is invited to seek for sponsors, if required, to fund its activities

The selected host will agree with MVA a Memorandum of Understanding that will include the definition of the Centre, its management and responsibilities of each party.The Centre will be able to use the MVA branding, however MVA needs to agree the main activities that are in line with the organization goals

Requirements of the Call

The proposer should define:

  • Location of the Centre
  • Preliminary Definition of activities
  • Commitment, on a best effort basis, for at least 2 years of operations
  • Management structure
  • Expected deliverables
