IEEE Telepresence Competition 2024

The Moon Village Association Exploration Analogues Working Group (WG) is co-sponsoring a Tele-Presence Competition in the California Mojave Desert, USA and is seeking volunteers to join the WG to help with this effort and either activities as well. Please help us advertise this competition and Robopalooza festival to your network of space analogues and robotics enthusiasts.

We would like to make you aware of an opportunity to compete in a one day Tele-Presence Competition being held by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the California Mojave Desert on Friday, November 15, 2024.

No travel is necessary – just a remote internet connection to the Mojave Desert site where participants will tele-operate a robot provided by the competition organizers in a timed race. The team that completes a flat land course and a hill climbing course the quickest will have the chance to win a $5,000 prize provided by IEEE.

In addition to the competition there will be a Robopalooza where there will be as many robots there as possible to create a festival atmosphere which will generate excitement, collaboration and motivation.

All teams are invited to bring a robot to the Mojave Desert for a demonstration at Peterman Hill in Lucerne Valley, California which is near Los Angeles, and can be accessed with a daytrip on Friday, November 15, 2024.
