Mining the Moon for Profit: A Case Study in Space Resource Utilization

March 11, 2019 @ 08:30 18:00 UTC+0

The Secure World Foundation is partnering with the SDA Bocconi School of Management-Space Economy Evolution (SEE) Lab, and the George Washington University Space Policy Institute to organize a one-day invitation only workshop on March 11th, in Milan, Italy entitled “Mining the Moon for Profit: A Case Study in Space Resource Utilization.” It is part of a series of workshops analyzing the evolution of a sustainable space environment and economy.

The workshop aims to provide increased understanding of the economic uncertainties in this area, as a resource to both the business and policy communities. In doing so the workshop will discuss the following (and other) questions:

Is space resource utilization sustainable with only non-government customers?

  • What is the role for the government as a purchaser of services/products?
  • What PPP models are important/appropriate to enable the development of a private-sector market in space resources?

Participation in this event is by invitation only. For more information, please direct any questions to SWF Director of Private Sector Programs, Ian Christensen.
