Moon Village Design Hackathon 2021

The Moon Village Design Hackathon 2021 will take place during the 5th Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium, on December 06-08, 2021.

Description

The Hackathon event is a fast paced design competition for students and young professionals that allows them to be exposed to specific information and present innovative ideas in the form of a technically and financially feasible business plan. In the current work environment, several organizations, institutions and companies focus on fast paced innovation where short workshops are used to develop ideas to common problems. These allow professionals to rapidly analyze the need statement and requirements and come up with a solution plan within the timeline or budgetary constraints.

The Hackathon is a simulation of this rapid solution generating workshops, in teams of no more than 6 people per team to choose one of three topics. Any individual applicants will be assigned to teams prior to the start of the hackathon. Teams will have access to preliminary information detailing the scope of the design/technology/innovation area. With the boundaries of the defined design, participants will have the opportunity to listen to subject experts present a more detailed lecture on the constraints and challenges of the topic. There will also be a panel discussion to guide participants to ask the right questions that would help them generate their business plan.

The MVA Hackathon will also offer the opportunity for an interactive mentoring from a technical point of view where mentors review the draft designs to ensure realistic and achievable data. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to prepare their pitch and have it evaluated by experts.

The final pitch will be judged based on sustainability, technical feasibility and financial viability.

Winners will be given the opportunity to continue working on their winning pitch with feedback from the technical and presentation mentors to ultimately publish their design to a conference as guided by the mentors.
