Call for Presentations & Panel Proposals – 10th Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium
The 10th Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on 26-27 October 2026.
Hosted & co-organized by GISTDA (Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency), Thailand
Venue: True Icon Hall, Bangkok (co-located with Thailand Space Expo and APRSAF)
1. Introduction
The Moon Village Association (MVA), created in 2017, is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Vienna, Austria. The MVA’s goal is to create an informal global forum for governments, industry, academia, and the public interested in the Moon Village vision – a community fostering permanent human expansion to Earth’s Moon. It comprises more than 300 participants in MVA activities and 33 institutional members from more than 60 countries, representing a diverse array of technical, scientific, cultural, and interdisciplinary fields. For more information regarding the MVA, please visit: moonvillageassociation.org.
Each year, the Moon Village Association organizes a major international event, a Workshop & Symposium (W&S), at which global leaders in various fields relevant to humanity’s permanent expansion to Earth’s Moon gather to share progress, new ideas, and relevant information. The MVA’s 2026 W&S will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on 26-27 October 2026, and will be hosted and co-organized by GISTDA.
1.1 Venue, Co-located Events, and Logistics
The Moon Village Association (MVA) is proud to announce that Thailand, through its national space agency, has been selected to host the 10th annual Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium.
The event will be held at the True Icon Hall in Bangkok on 26-27 October 2026, hosted by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), part of Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
The Workshop & Symposium will take place alongside Thailand Space Expo and the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF), creating the largest integrated space gathering in South-East Asia.
The MVA is a non-governmental organisation with UN observer status that fosters international cooperation for lunar exploration. The Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium is MVA’s flagship annual event, bringing together international experts, policy makers, industry leaders and researchers to accelerate humanity’s return to the Moon and beyond.
GISTDA’s proposal was selected through a competitive process thanks to the exceptional quality of its submission and strong alignment with the MVA’s mission and values. This edition marks the first time the Global Moon Village Workshop is hosted in South-East Asia, further reinforcing Thailand’s position as an emerging hub for space innovation. Previous hosts include Italy, Luxembourg, Japan, Cyprus, France and the United States.
2. MVA W&S 2026 Inspriation Theme
From Earth Observation to Moon Village Operations: Data-Driven Sustainability Across Earth-Moon Systems
A new era of space exploration is taking shape – one where lunar activities are increasingly connected to what we learn, measure, and manage on Earth. Earth Observation (EO) has become a core capability for sustainability: monitoring hazards, land use, oceans, emissions, and human impact with consistent, cross-border data. In parallel, the Moon is transitioning from exploration to sustained operations, raising urgent questions about environmental stewardship, safety, infrastructure resilience, and responsible governance.
The MVA W&S 2026 invites the community to explore how EO-derived methods, standards, and decision frameworks can inspire and enable lunar sustainability, and how lunar technologies and operational constraints can generate benefits for Earth. How can data-driven approaches support transparent governance, safer habitats, and sustainable resource use? How can we create credible metrics for environmental impact – both on Earth and on the Moon?
3. Invitation
We cordially invite you to submit either (1) Oral Presentation Proposals (single talks) and/or (2) Panel Session Proposals (moderated panels).
